Legal Skills Professor

UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA LEVIN COLLEGE OF LAW seeks to hire a Legal Skills Professor to teach first-year legal writing, upper-level pretrial practice, and other skills courses as needed.  The University of Florida, located in Gainesville, FL, is currently the seventh-best public research institution in the nation and the flagship university of the third-largest state. 

The College of Law will fill this 9-month position in the spring of 2020, with teaching to begin in August, 2020. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching first-year legal writing and excited to work as part of a team to continuously update and refine our first-year writing curriculum in light of the changing nature of legal practice. We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who are also qualified to teach innovative upper-level pre-trial practice courses at least one semester each year.

Legal Skills Professors are non-tenure-track faculty members who participate in College of Law governance and committee work. After three years of successful teaching and service, Legal Skills Professors are eligible for five-year, presumptively-renewable contacts.  Legal Skills Professors do not have scholarship responsibilities, but they are encouraged to participate in the scholarly life of the College of Law.  In addition to salary and benefits, all Legal Skills Professors are provided with professional development funds.
