Director of Legal Writing and Drafting

UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA LEVIN COLLEGE OF LAW welcomes applications from established legal writing professors to direct the Legal Writing and Drafting program at the Levin College of Law. The successful candidate will be appointed as Director and as a non-tenure-track Legal Skills Professor and will join a faculty committed to innovation and leadership in legal writing and experiential learning more broadly.

The Director of Legal Writing and Drafting will lead an enthusiastic and committed team of legal skills professors teaching first-year Legal Writing courses and upper-level Legal Drafting courses at the Levin College of Law. The Director will work with the team to evolve and continuously improve the unified curriculum at each level of study. The Director will also teach courses and work with the Dean to evaluate and develop all legal skills professors teaching legal writing and drafting.

The successful candidate will have strong legal writing skills, demonstrated ability to lead a team, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and enthusiasm for creating an inclusive environment for all students. 

Legal Skills Professors participate fully in Levin College of Law governance and committee work. The candidate ultimately chosen as Director will enjoy a five-year, presumptively-renewable contract. Legal Skills Professors do not have scholarship responsibilities, but they are encouraged to participate in the scholarly life of the law school and are provided with professional development funds. Legal Skills Professors on nine-month contracts are also eligible to for generous summer research stipends to support scholarly projects.
