Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Law

University of North Dakota

The University of North Dakota School of Law seeks to hire two full-time legal writing professors for tenure-track positions to begin in the 2024-25 term. UND Law has a unitary tenure track. All faculty members teaching in the Lawyering Skills program enjoy the same status as the rest of the law faculty, with parity in salary and benefits, rights to the tenure and promotion process, the same voting rights, eligibility for sabbaticals, eligibility for summer research stipends, eligibility for professional development travel funds, eligibility for funds for research assistants, rights to the same office space and support staff, and the same academic titles of Assistant Professor of Law, Associate Professor of Law, Professor of Law, and Endowed or Distinguished Professor of Law, as appropriate per appointment and promotion.

Lawyering Skills professors teach one section of 1L objective writing in the fall and one section of persuasive writing in the spring, which are both only 15-18 students. Additionally, Lawyering Skills professors teach one other upper-level course each semester, depending on their interests and the needs of the law school. These can be seminar courses, podium courses, or upper-level legal writing courses.
