One of the distinctive features of our curriculum is Legal Research & Writing II, where faculty may develop specialized sections centered on substantive areas. Faculty are encouraged to bring their own scholarly interests and professional passions into the classroom through these innovative offerings.
Exceptional Support for New Scholars
Mentorship is both formal and informal at Stetson. Every new faculty member collaborates with a three-person mentor group, through regular meetings to discuss their teaching and scholarship. The committee walks with the new faculty member through their first and second year. Informally, new research and writing faculty members have both their research and writing colleagues as well as other members of the faculty that will work with the new scholar in their areas of expertise.
Additionally, Stetson is the home to the Institute for the Advancement of Legal Communication, which is dedicated to advancing scholarship, teaching, and innovation in legal communication. The Institute provides opportunities to participate in The Hive, a mentoring community designed specifically for junior legal writing scholars, as well as engagement opportunities with the national legal writing community.
