Suffolk University Law School

Suffolk University Law School is searching for a Professor of Legal Writing to join our faculty and serve as the Director of Legal Practice Skills (LPS), our top-five tenure-track legal writing program, starting in the 2027-2028 academic year. We welcome applications from individuals with substantial experience teaching in legal writing programs, a record of scholarship, significant service experience, and leadership experience or potential, including those with tenure, long-term contracts, or other similar record of accomplishments.  We are looking for an innovative, collaborative leader who will maintain the program’s excellence and lead its continued evolution in a time of rapid change in legal practice and technology.

The Director of LPS will teach one section of the year-long first-year legal writing course and devote significant time to leading the program, including:

  • managing internal and external communications;
  • participating and leading in the national legal writing community;
  • conducting program review and strategic planning;
  • maintaining involvement in regional and national legal writing organizations and initiatives;
  • chairing the LPS faculty committee.

The anticipated salary range is $140,000 - $160,000 with the opportunity for additional compensation for administrative duties, as well as support for scholarship, research, and professional development. Tenure-track and tenured legal writing professors participate fully in faculty governance with the same voting rights as all tenure-track and tenured faculty.

Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae or resume, references, and a cover letter. Cover letters should be addressed to Professors Rosa Kim (rkim@suffolk.edu) and Rebecca Curtin (rcurtin@suffolk.edu), Co-Chairs of the Legal Practice Skills Committee, and all materials must be uploaded to Suffolk’s job posting website.
