LWI supports the teaching and intellectual community created by its members by sponsoring a range of conferences highlighting legal writing teaching, scholarship, and public service. The flagship Biennial Conference draws 500 participants for three days of sharing information, learning new ideas, and continuing conversations; it has been conducted in cities across the country since 1984. Since 2007, LWI has co-sponsored the Applied Legal Storytelling Conference, which focuses on narrative theory and practice and is scheduled during the summers when there is not a Biennial Conference. Every year, usually in December, LWI sponsors One-Day Workshops on selected topics at 10-12 law schools across the country. LWI Committees have organized and conducted a range of other conferences on specific topics, including moot court and social justice. On this website, you will find a number of regional legal writing conferences sponsored by individual law schools and regional consortiums.
