Biennial Conference (since 1984)

The flagship Biennial Conference draws more than 500 participants from across the country and around the world for three days of sharing information, learning new ideas, celebrating at a gala event, and continuing conversations with friends and colleagues.  Law schools submit proposals to host this prestigious conference.

Applied Legal Storytelling (since 2007)

Founded by a group of pioneering members interested in narrative theory, LWI now co-sponsors this unique conference,  which focuses on applied narrative theory and storytelling on behalf of clients.  It is usually held during the summer of an odd year, when there is no biennial conference.

One-Day Workshops

Every year, usually in December, LWI sponsors One-Day Workshops on selected topics at 10-12 law schools across the country. These workshops often give members an opportunity to attend a conference in a more intimate setting close to home and help build regional relationships among faculty.

Regional and Other Conferences

From time to time, LWI holds conferences on specific subject matters, including moot court and social justice. In addition, LWI advertises regional legal writing conferences that take place throughout the year.  These regional conferences are sponsored by individual law schools and regional consortiums.
